Refurbishment and modification of planing machines
With over 30 years of solid experience, we are experts in reconditioning used planers, which we can also modify according to our customers’ specific needs. We are specialized in brands such as Kupfermuhle, REX, Ledinek, and Weinig. Our overhauls bring your machine back to top condition – technically, visually, and functionally. In our metalworking shop, we can deliver precision work, including the production of new cutterheads and other special spare parts. Our extensive spare parts warehouse is stocked not only with standard bearings but also with a selection of original parts. This enables us to offer customized solutions, such as adding extra units, increasing working height, installing modern cutter systems, increasing feed speed, and more.
Our services in detail:
- Complete disassembly & repainting
The machine is completely disassembled down to the base frame and repainted (colors: white/gray or red). - Replacement of all wear parts
Bearings, chains, sprockets, belts, bushings, screws, and other standard parts are completely renewed. - Grinding of table plates up to 1,500 mm
Removable table plates are precisely realigned on our surface grinding machine. - Refurbishment of feed rollers
Worn rollers are replaced, newly mounted, and recoated (vulcanized) if necessary. - Motor-service
We replace all motor bearings, repaint the motors in anthracite, and can adjust motor power on request (stronger or weaker than original). - Modern electrical technology & controls
Whether individual components or a complete control cabinet with new system – we make your machine future-proof. - Functional test with wood
Before delivery, we test each machine with suitable material like lamellas, beams, or glulam – for guaranteed reliable results.
Our mechanics know the Vuin by Kupfermühle like the back of their hand! To date, we have overhauled about 100 machines of this type!
For this project, we carried out the following modifications and upgrades:
- Replacement of old cutterheads with standard knives and clamping screws for Tersa cutterheads
- Increase of vertical spindles from 100 mm to 200 mm including dust hoods and pressure plates
- New side planing heads with quick-change knife system and chamfering tools
- Installation of a pull-out device after the vertical spindles with freshly vulcanized rollers
- Electrical renewal
- Retrofit of a 2-axis positioning control system (LUMA) for digital automatic adjustment of planing height and width
Wide planers from REX are also one of our specialties. This machine was completely overhauled and delivered to our customer in France with the following customizations:
- Increase in working height from max. 300 mm to 400 mm
- Increase in vertical spindles from 300 mm to 400 mm including dust hoods
- Chroming and cylindrical grinding of the lifting columns including 100 mm height increase
Our largest project so far is now the biggest planing machine in Africa!
The Superles 2500, with a total weight of 33 tons, was delivered in many parts using three trucks.
The refurbishment took nearly an entire year. Once again, we dismantled all components in detail and rebuilt the machine completely from scratch.
From dismantling in Austria to commissioning in Australia – we were involved in this project from start to finish! The K133 planing machine was specially modified for use in Australia:
- Increased working height: Instead of the standard 300 mm, the machine was delivered with a maximum working height of 450 mm.
- Spiral cutterheads from AKE: For an especially clean planing finish and reduced noise emissions.
- Modification of planing spindles: The horizontal spindles were removed and replaced with an 80 mm diameter spindle, onto which the new planing heads were mounted.
